Low self-esteem can affect any of us at any stage in our lives, and while some are more prone to it than others, there will be few out there who haven’t felt its debilitating effects upon their mental and physical well being.
Here are a few ways in which you can help to improve your self-esteem:
Don’t give up:
When times are tough, it’s important to recognize that things will get better and that you can impact how you’re feeling. Try to channel your energy toward feelings of compassion for yourself, and tell yourself that what’s happening now is only temporary.
Be patient and understanding:
Nobody knows you better than you know yourself, and often when we’re struggling to cope, we have the inner resources to make ourselves better, we just need to trust in them and be patient with ourselves.
Treat life as a blessing:
Altering your perspective can work wonders for your self-esteem. You can impact your life and your destiny, and if you’re giving yourself a hard time over something, it’s okay to pause and bring empathy toward yourself. Try to focus on kindness, gentleness, and what opportunities the world may hold in store for you, and encourage your mental and your physical self.
Recognize your negative thoughts:
Recognizing and acknowledging when your mind is being impacted by negative thoughts can help you to quell them and move on to more positive things. While it’s only natural that we’ll have some negative thought patterns, bringing a gentleness to ourselves can help them dissipate.

Accept that disappointment is part of life:

Deal with your fears:
Fear is a perfectly normal emotion and recognizing and accepting that something makes you fearful, is the first step towards healing. However, you must also address the fear thoughtfully to learn from it and move forward, and when you do, you’ll be more able to deal with adversity in the future.
Raising your self-esteem may not be easy, and there is no quick fix that will suddenly turn you into a happy, confident person, but once you tell yourself that you are worthy and you do deserve to be happy, and you bring self-kindness into your life you’re halfway there.
